(SPOT.ph) Maybe you’re a seasoned oenophile on the lookout for the finest bottles around, or maybe you’re a complete beginner who can’t tell your chardonnay from your Chenin Blanc. Either way, you’ll want to ready your nose and taste buds for Manila Uncorked 2019, a celebration of wines from around the world, to be held on December 7. Held annually by the Philippine Sommelier Association along with dusitD2 The Fort Manila, Vintec, and Cellar Solutions, the event brings together top wine suppliers in Manila to showcase different bottles of wine for different tastes. Yup, that includes wine tastings and food pairings—perfect for getting inspiration for your upcoming Christmas parties.

This year’s run highlights Sake, the Japanese rice wine that’s been making waves in the country. Regular tickets are at P1,200, and you can taste over 300 wines and sign up for the wine sessions taking place during the event. VIP tickets are at P1,800, and it includes an additional VIP tasting of premium wine selections and a chance to participate in a master class by Master Sommelier Luis de Santos. Try your best to stay sober, as the VIP tickets also get you a chance to join in as a food taster in the Chef Throwdown, where chefs battle it out to test their food-and-wine-pairing abilities.
