Bad Saint in D.C. Hailed Among Most Important Restaurants of the Decade

Hooray for Filipino food!

( It’s been a rollercoaster of a decade with tons of ups and downs for the Philippines, but here's something one worth celebrating: DC-based Filipino restaurant Bad Saint just made it to Food & Wine’s Most Important Restaurants of the Decade list. The online magazine praises its “brash, flavorful cooking” and “unapologetic but nuanced dishes,” thus cementing Filipino food’s place as the “next big thing” in America.

Bad Saint opened in 2015 and quickly earned plenty of accolades, including three-star reviews in the New York Times and the Washington Post, as well as getting the number-two spot on Bon Appetit’s Hot Best 10 New Restaurants in America list in 2016. The restaurant’s own Filipino-American Chef Tom Cunanan was also awarded Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic category of the prestigious James Beard Awards this year.
