Red Velvet Fans, This New Pudding Is for You
M Bakery's done it again!
(SPOT.ph) We know what you're thinking. "I understand red and pink stuff leading up to February 14," you say, "but carrying it out through the whole month? Isn't that a bit much?" For other cakes and cookies, sure. But not for M Bakery's famous pudding—enter their flavor of the month, Red Velvet Banana Pudding (P145/small, P295/medium, P375/large). Its layers of freshly baked red velvet cake are swirled into the vanilla pudding with cream cheese and bananas—it's pretty decadent. It's the one red dessert you'd let slide post-Valentine's.
Some of you might be asking, "What even is red velvet?" Technically, it's chocolate with red food dye—at the same time, it's not that simple. It's traditionally looser than regular chocolate cake, due to the use of non-wheat flours (like almond); the use of buttermilk and/or vinegar would contribute to the color, as these ingredients used to react with cocoa powder (as it was manufactured back in the day). Dye wasn't added until post-World War II, when cocoa was reformulated.
