This Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich Is on Its Way to Manila
This Orange County favorite opens soon in Glorietta 4.
(SPOT.ph) Ah, Orange County—some readers of a certain age will remember when we used to sing along to that song by Phantom Planet, signalling the start of improbable teen drama. And for many at the time, that was the key California reference. But what those who've been there will tell you is there's another, much more worthwhile reason to visit, and its name is Bruxie Fried Chicken and Waffles, or simply Bruxie.
For those who aren't in on the story, this baby chain of restaurants—as in they've only been around for 10 years—serves up boneless, buttermilk fried-chicken sandwiches. But this is where it gets wacky (in the best way): Instead of bread, you get two crunchy waffles, because obviously normal chicken and waffles isn't going to cut it. When they finally set up their first branch in Glorietta 4, you can look forward to the sweet and spicy Original Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich; the Holy Chicken, made with a boneless chicken thigh (so it's extra tender) and topped with bacon strips and cheddar; and the Crispy Chicken, served with the special Bruxie sauce, pickles, and tomatoes.
The part we're really looking forward to is that the Bruxie team make these sandwiches fresh every day—heck, not even the sauces are pre-made, so you get that same-day goodness every time you order.
Bringing Bruxie to Metro Manila is the Bistro Group, who also gave us Denny's, TGI Friday's, Italianni's, and Buffalo Wild Wings just to name a few. What else they have in store with this chicken chain, we can only guess—watch this space.
Bruxie Fried Chicken and Waffles is set to open at 2F, Glorietta 4, Ayala Center, Makati City.
