Whoa: You Can Make a Nutella Cake With Just Two Ingredients
(SPOT.ph) It seems everyone’s on the cooking train now—what better way to spend all your free time at home, really? If you’re looking for your next project but can’t be bothered to spend an hour or more slaving away over a complicated recipe, look no further. On April 21, Australian Chef Rob Nixon posted a recipe for Nutella Cake on TikTok, and the best part is, it requires just two ingredients: Nutella and eggs.
To make it, preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a cake tin (Nixon doesn’t specify a size) and get your other ingredients ready. You’ll need four large or eight medium eggs, plus 240 grams of Nutella—that’s a little over ¾ cup, but you’re best off measuring using a food scale to be sure. Make sure your Nutella’s at room temperature so that it pours easily.
Using a stand or hand mixer (or your hands and a whisk—just be ready to feel the burn!), beat the eggs on high for eight minutes, or until it triples in volume and becomes fluffy. Add the Nutella to the egg mix little by little and gradually beat it in—don’t worry if the egg mixture collapses. You should get a medium-brown batter with a few bubbles present. Pour it into your cake tin and bake for 35-40 minutes. Let it cool, and just like that, you’ve made your own Nutella cake!
Nixon decorates the top with a sprinkling of powdered sugar and strawberries, but we can totally imagine this cake with whipped cream and a drizzle of peanut butter (or more Nutella). Go ahead and play with it, too—fold in chocolate chips into the batter for an even bigger chocolate hit, or toasted nuts for a bit of a crunch.
