You Can Support Local Farmers at This Produce Market
They're in Ortigas from July 15 to 17 and July 24 to 26!
(SPOT.ph) Everyone’s been feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting quarantine, not just in the way we choose what and where to eat, but also in what we now consider essential to everyday life. But perhaps the most affected are those whose livelihoods have been put at risk, like our local farmers. With the onset of the enhanced community quarantine in March, it became a challenge for them not just to harvest but to get their produce to consumers. Online marketplaces have made them easier to access, and now, here’s another way you can support local: SM has partnered with the Department of Agriculture and Resto PH for the Farmers’ Produce Market, and you can find it from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Podium today until Friday, July 15 to 17.
Participating groups include Cada Farmers, for highland vegetables and fruits; Farmer Juan, for chicken and beef; GreenLife Coconut Products; Glorious Industrial & Development Corporation, which makes Stevia sweetener; Angel Treats; Garantisdadong Organikong Samahan sa Quezon for lowland vegetables, fruits, and cacao products; Lick the Spoon, famous for their bottled sauces and dulce de leche; Munting Paraiso ni Yoly Farm, for rice and honey; Mamre Farms and Dairy, for vegetables and fresh milk; and Vino Arsan, which makes local wines.
You’ll also find pop-up restaurants by Mango Tree, King Chef, Monga, Wolfgang's Steakhouse, Teppanyaki Brothers, Kureji, and Genki Sushi, which will have specially-designed menus with dishes that use local ingredients.
The Farmers’ Produce Market will be at Atrium East, Level 2, The Podium, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., from July 15 to 17 and July 24 to 26.
