Home Bakers to Support This Week for Gooey Cookies, Cereal Milk Buns + More
Your sweet tooth is in for a treat!
(SPOT.ph) We turn to baked goods to brighten up our moods any time of the day—whether you prefer warm, freshly-baked bread slathered with butter or a festive slice of cake. And it's especially charming when you know they were made and baked with love by a humble home baker. Thankfully, there's no shortage of home-baking businesses around the Metro with amazing breads and pastries. We've rounded up five to check out anytime you're craving a great bake.
If you like your bread pillowy-soft, be sure to check out Swirlybuns, who specializes in Japanese shokupan loaves. Their Classic Milk Shokupan (P230) satisfies with its uber-tender crumb and mellow, milky flavor that you can savor plain or with a dab of butter. If you're after a richer treat, you can also try their flavored variants, like the Choco Swirl Shokupan (P280) or Ube Cheese Swirl Shokupan (P340). Just send them a message on Facebook or Instagram to place your orders; you can pay via BDO bank deposit or GCash.
For cookies that are lightly crisp on the outside and ultra-gooey on the inside, look no further than Better Batter. These cookies come chock-full of chocolate chips and/or nuts within, whether you go for the Chocolate Chip (P330/four, P650/eight), Chocolate Chip Walnut (P375/four, P740/eight), Triple Chocolate (P350/four, P690/eight), Triple Chocolate Walnut (P385/four, P760/eight), or White Chocolate Macadamia (P430/four, P850/eight) variant. You can also get a sampler of all flavors for P470 for one of each flavor and P930 for two of each flavor. The best part is, Better Batter donates part of its proceeds to Yakal.ph, a non-profit initiatives that helps the homeless and the elderly. Get your fix by sending them a message on Facebook or Instagram.
Cakes for the Sassy
There are a ton of options for cakes in the Metro, but Cakes for the Sassy's takes stand out for their witty messages that are so fun, you'll want to place an order even when there's no occassion at all. Get your own six-inch cake (P950, available in pink or white) by sending them a message via text or on Instagram with your name, contact details, cake message, preferred delivery date, and whether you'd like to get it delivered (to be booked by you or arranged by them) or picked up. They recommend placing your orders at least 2-3 weeks before your preferred delivery date, and accept payments via BDO or BPI bank transfer.
We've talked about 17r Bakehouse's nut butters, but they also make amazing Cereal Milk Bites (P450/box of eight) that are bound to be your next favorite breakfast or meryenda treat. These are pillowy-soft buns with a silky cereal milk filling that come at about a 1:1 ratio with each other—each bite gets you the perfect amount of bread to filling. Moreover, each bun comes crusted with cornflakes that make for a crisp contrast against the tender buns and creamy filling when heated.
17r Bakehouse also makes buns in Ube Cheese (P240/box of four, P350/box of six), Butter Sugar (P240/box of four, P350/box of six), and Three Cheese (P450/box of six) flavors. Place your orders by sending them an Instagram DM or text message with your name, Instagram account, mobile number, email, and orders at least 24 hours in advance. They accept payments via BPI bank transfer and GCash. Note that you'll have to book your own courier for delivery.
Trends come and go, but some classic desserts stand the test of time—like a classic chocolate brownie. Get your fix from The Desserterie, who makes their brownies fudgy and not too sweet—great for pleasing kids and adults alike. Aside from brownies, they also make light and crisp Chocolate Chip Cookie Nibbles (P150/25 pieces) that are perfect paired with a hot cup of coffee. Send them a message on Facebook or Instagram with your name, contact number, delivery date, and orders; they take payments via BDO or BPI bank transfer. You'll have to book your own courier to pick it up either from Ayala Mall Vertis North, Caloocan, or Malabon.
