(SPOT.ph) Yogurt has a distinctly tangy flavor that you can enjoy as straight-up yogurt, as froyo, or even as yogurt drinks. But we spotted a snack on the Korean supermarket shelves that reinvents the yogurt wheel: Yogurt Almonds. It hails from Korean brand Tom's Farm, which is known for coming out with nut snacks in one-of-a-kind flavors like Honey Butter and even Wasabi. But what the heck do yogurt-flavored almonds taste like?
Price and availability: You can get a 30-gram pack for P74 from Korean supermarket Wang Mart, which is available on GrabMart. You can also get it from resellers on Shopee.
Best for: Yakult and froyo fans who want to get their yogurt fix in a crunchy form.
Best with: It's flavorful enough by itself, but you can also chop up the almonds and use it to top a cup of yogurt or froyo!
Tastes like: As with other Tom's Farm variants, the almonds are perfectly crunchy, with a thin shell-like coating plus what seems to be a sort of granular powder of whatever flavor it's got. In this case, it's got a tangy and sweet profile that's immediately brings to mind Yakult. This might not be the first flavor you'd associate with almonds, but somehow it works—and we love that there's a perfect balance between the toasty almond base and the yogurt coating.
Manage your expectations: We just wish these were cheaper—but you do get what you pay for, and you won't find any other snacks quite like this anywhere else. And because almonds are packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats, they'll also fill you up better than, say, chips or cookies.
Yay or nay: Definitely a yay for us!
