(SPOT.ph) Comfort-eats staple Uncle John's Fried Chicken is going full Filipino—in the business-y manner of speaking. The Ministop franchise in the Philippines will be wholly owned by Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. subsidiary, Robinsons Supermarket Corporation come February. And yes, to answer the main question on your mind: Uncle John's Fried Chicken and the Kariman aren't going anywhere (except maybe your stomachs, of course).

Robinsons Buys 100% of Ministop Philippines

The Japanese convenience-store chain currently operates around 460 branches in the Philippines under a joint venture with Robinsons Supermarket Corporation, reports Nikkei Asia. Ministop Japan will be turning over its 40% stake by February, increasing Robinsons's shares from 60% to 100%.

With this new agreement, Robinsons will continue to operate the stores under the Ministop brand during the transition period "until they are repurposed and appropriately rebranded" said Robinsons Retail in a statement.

“I would like to thank Ministop Japan for our partnership over the years,” said Robina Gokongwei-Pe, president of Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. (RHHI).

“Our stores will continue to carry our bestsellers while we continue to diversify our ready-to-eat menu and offer new products to the market," confirmed Suresh Ramalinggam, Ministop General Manager. "Customers can also rely on our convenient e-services and bills payment facilities."
