Valentine's Day Cakes, Ice Cream, Doughnuts + More That'll Make Your Loved Ones Swoon
These sweets for your sweet are bound to sweep them off their feet.
(SPOT.ph) We don’t know about you, but we say the best way to just about anyone’s heart is through their stomach—and when it’s the message of affection you’re looking to communicate, going the sweet direction is definitely the way to do it. Yup, Valentine’s is practically synonymous to being the season of all things sweet and decadent; after all, nothing says “I think you’re real special” like a good dose of sugar to bring on the endorphins. Whether you’re looking to treat your special other—or, heck, just yourself (psst, self-love is love!)—you’ve got plenty of options for the season that are as visually pleasing as they are real treats for the taste buds—and ultimately, the heart.
Make Valentine's day uber-memorable with these sweet and stunning treats:
La Vie en Rose Cake and Seasonal Sweets from Bizu
Patisserie Bizu goes all out for the season of hearts—with a line of desserts and other treats also shaped like hearts! Their Romance Cake (starts at P675/personal) gives you an even more grand way to savor the flavor profile of chocolate-covered strawberries, what with its layers of dark chocolate ganache, crème brûlée, caramel, and fresh berries. They’ve also got the uber-pink La Vie en Rose cake (P1,375) where strawberries are taken out for a floral spin with the flavors of rose—plus it’s a real visual stunner as it’s topped with more fresh berries, meringue puffs, and petit macarons! If you’re more for a tangy treat, go for the Strawberry Chiboust Valentine Edition (starts at P500/personal)—a heart-shaped version of their signature strawberry-topped French-style cheesecake.
For gifting, you’ve got plenty of options, too, including the Amour Love Box with Forever Flowers (P3,500) with their special Valentines macarons, cakesicles, and flowers; and the Lovestruck Box (P2,295) with assorted confections in a heart-shaped chocolate shell you can (literally) smash open with the included small mallet.
Relationship-Themed Ice Cream from Sebastian’s
How’s about a cool, creamy scoop that channels the feels of being in—or trying to move on from—a relationship? Sebastian’s is back with their Valentine’s-themed ice cream flavors; every year they come up with this special line of the same four flavor categories, but with different interpretations for three of them. For starters, there’s the Matinong Boyfriend (P420/pint) that melds fruity and nutty worlds with lakatan banana, Nutella, and banana chips for crunch; and the Matinong Girlfriend (P420/pint) that’s part-salty, part-sweet, and all parts lush with vanilla, malt, peanut butter, chocolate, and pretzels in the mix.
Prefer a soothing spoonful? Go for the Closure (P420/pint), which is all about the zesty yet tranquil flavors of honey, fresh ginger, and black tea. Of course, Sebastian’s infamous Unresolved Issues (P300/pint) a.k.a. their decidedly bittersweet ampalaya sorbet is back, too; this is the one flavor of the line that never changes, not unlike its namesake. (We say it makes for a surprisingly refreshing dessert.)
Cupid’s Strawberry Chantilly Cake from Butternut Bakery
Butternut Bakery goes for a very berry profile in their special V-Day dessert, dubbed the Cupid’s Strawberry Chantilly Cake (P1,950). Bearing a pretty pink hue, this cake brings together layers of vanilla sponge cake, a housemade berry compote, and a berry-tinged créme chantilly that breathes richness into every fruity forkful. As if that wasn’t enough, the frosted confection is then topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries, plus fresh edible flowers and gold flakes that’ll definitely make whoever receives this cake feel extra-special.
Chocolate Drinks from Macao Imperial Tea x Auro Chocolate
Chocolate is a Valentine’s-season must, and if you prefer to get your fix in sippable form, these new drinks from milk-tea brand Macao Imperial Tea and local chocolate purveyor Auro have got your back. The Auro Dark Chocolate drink—available hot (P185) or iced (P185/Alto, P205/Maior)—is by no means your grocery hot cocoa, bearing the robust and slightly fruity profile of Auro’s bean-to-bar chocolate that’s made with Filipino cacao. You can also get it with Macao Imperial’s signature cheese cap in the Cream Cheese Auro Dark Chocolate (P195/Alto, P215/Maior); the way the salty cream cheese and bittersweet chocolate come together bring to mind the combo of champorado and tuyo.
For orders, visit the Macao Imperial Tea section of the Fredley Group of Companies’ delivery website. You can also check out their Facebook page.
Strawberry Heart from Sainte Anne Cakes Manila
We’ve waxed poetic about the famous desserts of Sainte Anne Cakes Manila—they’re best known for their Mango Shortcake, but their Strawberry Shortcake is well worth raving about too, what with their use of high-quality ingredients and generous amount of fruit. Sainte Anne’s recently came up with a special heart-shaped version (P3,700) right in time for Valentine’s season; as with the OG it’s got layers of their fluffy chiffon, lush chantilly cream, and fresh strawberries that come together into a light yet impactful union.
Berry Bouquet Cake from The Sweet Life by Ange
The Sweet Life by Ange is never one to hold back, and this Valentine’s is no exception. They’ve got two totally swoon-worthy cakes for the season, both bound to blow you away on both visual and flavor fronts! The Rainbow Rose Romance (P6,400) has pastel rainbow vanilla cake layers all covered in buttercream rosettes and topped with white-chocolate dipped strawberries and fresh roses. Alternatively, there’s the Berry Bouquet (P7,500) with similar elements, though you can also opt for plain-colored cake layers here—plus it’s also got flakes of 24k gold leaf that pretty much scream luxe.
Macadamia & Salted Caramel Burnt Basque Cheesecake from Chef Chele’s Kitchen
Basque burnt cheesecake’s pretty much transcended being a mere food trend; we say it’s got the makings of a timeless treat with its decidedly “burnt” exterior and uber-creamy interior. When done right it can be real stellar as it is, but it also takes well to other flavors—and Chef Chele’s Kitchen proves just that in their special V-Day dessert, the Macadamia & Salted Caramel Burnt Basque Cheesecake (P1,300/six-and-a-half inches, P2,200/eight-and-a-half inches). With buttery macadamia nuts and caramel joining in the party—plus just a touch of salt for balance—you can expect to be going back for slice after slice after slice of this nutty, decadent treat. Sure doesn’t hurt that their take on the Basque dessert happens to be some of the absolute creamiest we’ve tried.
Love, Caketually from Wildflour
Forget the bouquet of flowers. Instead, consider going for a treat with the swoon-inducing look of flowers, but that also the sheer delight you can only get from downing a decadent dessert—like Wildflour’s Love Caketually (P1,450). This February-only offering goes for a blooming look with red, pink, and white swirls of Italian meringue frosting piped on such that it resembles roses, plus a fluffy-cream interior with layers of vanilla sponge cake, custard, and a dulce-de-leche filling.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding + More Love-Themed Bakes from M Bakery
For winning banana pudding that’s lush, thick, creamy through and through, M Bakery is a no-fail—but for Valentine’s, they’re switching up bananas for berries in the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding. Here, tangy, juicy oven-roasted strawberries take the place of the classic bananas, and M Bakery throws in chunks of chocolate cake and a layer of chocolate ganache for good measure. The dessert shop’s got other sweet treats on their Valentine’s lineup, too; another standout is the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Brownie Bites, or mini rounds of their Double Fudge Brownies topped with a strawberry-meringue buttercream, a top coat of chocolate, and pretty pink mini heart quins.
For orders, contact 0917-8221262 (Rockwell), or 0917-6331718 or 8847-9829 (BGC). You can also check out M Bakery PH’s Facebook page.
Raspberry and White Chocolate Crunch + More Raspberry Desserts from Dylan’s Patisserie
Strawberries might be the fruit most popularly associated with Valentine’s season, but if you’re up for a tangier treat with a subtly floral note, consider switching it up for a swoon-worthy raspberry dessert instead! Dylan Patisserie’s got two drool-worthy options for V-Day. There’s the simpler but no less stellar Raspberry Joconde Roll (P1,250) and the heart-shaped Raspberry and White Chocolate Crunch (P1,900); both desserts go for a creamy-fruity whole with raspberry mousse, raspberry jelly, a plush joconde sponge, and crisp-caramel-y feuilletine.
Chocolate & Strawberries Doughnut Box from Pufft Doughnuts
Doughnuts are the kind of dessert that exemplify maximum treat-yo’-self kinda decadence, with minimum frills or fuss. Here’s one to try for hearts season: Pufft has a Valentine’s-day only special dubbed the Chocolate & Strawberries (P875), which has two pieces of those famous Strawberry Monst doughnuts and three pieces Milk Chocolate Doughnuts with Ferraro Rocher Chocolate. Go ahead, have it in bed while you’re in pajamas and all—and though it’s best shared (with your S.O. perhaps?), we also won’t judge if in the name of self-love, you end up polishing off everything by yourself.
Sexy Strawberry Sea Salt Praline Walnut Dark Chocolate Pie from Serendipity Gourmet
With ‘sexy’ in this pie’s name, Serendipity Gourmet sets people up for high expectations. But we say they’ve got every right to call it as such. This tantalizing dessert (P2,980) tempts and teases you in from its looks alone, what with its dark and glossy Belgian chocolate shavings on top. Take a forkful (or, heck, just bite straight into your slice) and you’re bound to be in for quite the euphoria, as this pie marries the flavors of dark chocolate and fruity ol’ strawberries—plus crunchy pieces of praline walnuts for an added nuttiness and a caramel-esque depth. Yup, schmexy.
Strawberry Lychee Mousse Cake from KO Patissier
The flavors of East and West come together in KO Patissier’s Strawberry Lychee Mousse Cake (P3,200)—with real swoon-worthy results. Here, lychees breathe welcome tropical flair into the usual strawberries-and-cream tandem as this gateau brings together layers of a strawberry-lychee cream and fruity ol’ strawberry compote; a base of pistachio sponge cake and
white-chocolate croustiant contribute nuttiness and crispness, respectively. And with its elegant, cream-to-white hue on the outside and adornments of macarons and red roses, it’ll definitely sweep your beloved off their feet.
Strawberry Pie with Nutella and Vanilla Pastry Cream from BWB Kitchen
You’ve had strawberries with chocolate; but wait until you try strawberries with creamy, lush ol’ Nutella. Yup, the addition of the telltale nuttiness of hazelnuts does wonders to the said bittersweet-fruity tandem, taking it to even more swoon-worthy heights with the added richness the nuts contribute. You’ll see just what we mean when you try BWB Kitchen’s special Strawberry Pie with Nutella and Vanilla Pastry Cream (P1,500); this Valentine’s special has its namesake elements, on a flaky and buttery pie crust that balances out the other stronger and richer flavors.

Valentine’s Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme
How’s about communicating your adoration with a box of doughnuts in soft, sweet pastel shades? Krispy Kreme’s come out with a special heart-shaped line of their signature confections (starts at P59/piece) for the season. There’s the Strawberries & Kreme Heart with the flavors of strawberry and vanilla; the Blueberries & Kreme Heart with blueberries and white chocolate; and the White Chocolate & Almonds Heart that comes complete with a drizzle of gold glitter jelly.
