(SPOT.ph) What happens when some of the best-known local and global brands of whisky come together for two special nights on our shores? Plenty of mischief, merrymaking, and inebriated (but informative) fun, that's what. Industry experts and fans of the beverage gathered for the 2022 edition of Whisky Live Manila, which took place at Shangri-La the Fort on November 4 and 5—and between countless tasting sessions, workshops, a bartending competition and conversations with pundits in the field, it was an exhilirating ride that had us learning more about the distilled drink. Here's what went down.

Check out these shots—we mean the photographic kind—from the recent 2022 run of Whisky Live Manila:
Whisky Live, ICYDK, is said to be the "biggest whisky event in the world," as it celebrates all things whisky. This fifth run of theirs in Manila brought in over a hundred local and international brands of the alcoholic beverage—among them Chivas Regal, Pernod Ricard, Douglas Laing, Bruichladdich, Maison Ferrand, Don Papa Rum, ARC, Luisita Rum, Remy Martin, Koval, Dewar's, Wolfburn, and Duncan Taylor. Dewar's, in particular—the Bacardi-owned brand of blended Scotch whisky—also brought home awards for Best Booth and People’s Choice for Whisky.

Guests also had the opportunity to learn more about whisky in-depth via workshops held at the event—which set this 2022 run apart from previous Whisky Live editions. Covered in these workshops were everything from whisky-blending via Chivas Regal’s Owen Roberts, to a blind-tasting guide from spirits enthusiast John Go, to the art of mixing your own whisky sour (using Benchmark Bourbon Whiskey!) via industry icon Richie Cruz.

For true-blue enthusiasts, there were also masterclasses by the likes of bigwigs Ewan Gunn (Senior Global Scotch Whisky Ambassador of Diageo), Owen Roberts (Whisky Ambassador of Chivas Regal), Kris Ong (Singlemalt.ph Brand Ambassador), Lee Watson of The Spirits Library, Matthieu Gouze (Brand Ambassador of Ferrand Cognac), and Paul Wang (known as the "Keeper of the Quaich" in the industry). Young bartenders also had a chance to show off their skills at the event's bartending competition, with Enderun College's Jouielyn Vidal bagging the top spot under their bartending mentor Mark Kevin Ramores.
