You'll Find More Than Just Tea and Cookies at the M&S Cafe

Digestive biscuits aren’t the only things you can get at Marks & Spencer.

( Marks & Spencer is a familiar name to most fashion-conscious folks. Over the years, it's become increasingly popular among the cookie and tea lovers of Metro Manila, too. More and more branches have started offering signature M&S food alongside their sartorial selections, with their digestives and authentic British tea blends becoming go-to Christmas treats for many.

The Marks & Spencer Cafe over at Central Square in Taguig City has decided to go one step further. Not only does it offer the brand's regular stock of pantry staples, frozen meals, and desserts, it also serves freshly baked bread and pastries along with organic coffee blends.

The kitchen is the real draw of the store, though. Unlike any other M&S branch out there, this one is more than ready to dish up hot meals to its customers.

If you're looking for something hearty, then the Tomato and Basil Soup (P125) will fill you up. The herby dish is best soaked up with buttery bread still warm from the M&S oven.

The ham and cheese combo is taken to the next level with the Wiltshire Ham & Mature Cheddar Baguette (P175). The Tuna Mayo & Cucumber Baguette (P150), on the other hand, offers a balanced mix of creamy tuna and fresh cucumber. Don't forget to add a side order of Green Salad (P50) to complete the meal.

M&S hails from all the way from Great Britain, so of course, it couldn’t go without the most iconic of British dishes—Fish and Chips (P295). Thick fries are paired with a generous cut of deep-fried fish in this hot dish, while a side of Green Salad adds a dash of freshness. And if you find yourself becoming a fan of the dips and dressings used, don’t worry—you can buy them bottled at the store!

Are you a tried-and-true pasta lover? Then you’ll enjoy the Beef Lasagne (P385) which promises a forkful of cheesy, beefy goodness every time. If you’re feeling daring, mix up your meal with the Superberry Mix Smoothie (P165)—the cold drink delivers on its name and every sip is a blast of different berry flavors.

Don’t miss the chance to order the Loaded Nachos (P175). The crunchy tortilla chips topped with salsa, grated cheese, jalapeno sauce, and sour cream is great for sharing. You might just find yourself finishing the whole thing by yourself, though!

Of course, if you're not up for a full meal and would rather eat something lighter, check out the selection of baked goodies. The Milk Chocolate (P50), White Chocolate (P50), and Double Chocolate (P50) cookies are fan favorites, as are British classics Victoria Sponge Muffin (P125), the Palmier (P60), and the Apple and Blackberry Tart (P115).

If you still have time for a cup of frothy Cappuccino (P100/12oz; P115/16oz) or Iced Mocha (P130/12oz), then you're in luck: M&S uses organic double-roasted, 100% Arabica blend for all coffee orders.
