Catch the 16th French Film Festival, June 9 to 19 at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall
Say <em>oui</em> to free screenings of some of the best adventure, comedy, drama and documentary films from France.
(SPOT.ph) The 16th French Film Festival returns to Manila on June 9 at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall. A total of 16 French films-handpicked by the Embassy of France to the Philippines from a catalogue proposed by the Institut Francais-will be screened for free on a first-come, first-served basis.
Retrospectives of famed actress Sandrine Bonnaire and films by Filipino director Auraeus Solito are part of this year’s film festival. Brad Pitt’s latest film, Tree of Life, will also be screened on June 19 at 9 p.m.
The French Film Festival, which also traditionally pays tribute to Philippine cinema, will highlight Solito’s films such as Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros and Pisay and will be screened on June 12, Sunday. Films by Filipino directors who have been invited to France by prestigious festivals like the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival will also be part of the June 12 screening schedule.
The film festival will move to Cebu on June 23 to 25 and at the UP Film Institute on June 28 to July 2.
