(SPOT.ph) Metro Manila has quite a few spots where folks can come and enjoy  good beer, great conversations, and even better music. And with one of those rare places announcing that they're officially closing—after nearly 15 years of being a hub for the local music scene—it's understandable that folks have been flooding our feeds with bittersweet goodbyes. Route 196 said farewell on August 23 and now artists, bands, fans, music lovers, and more are taking to Twitter to post about their most memorable nights at the Katipunan venue.

Jugs Jugueta of Itchyworms, who happens to be one of the partners of the popular gig spot, posted a tribute to Instagram—complete with an epic throwback picture. "We played in Route 196 before it even was called Route 196," he said, and added: "It was our passion project; our way of giving back to the local indie music scene, which was very supportive of [the Itchyworms] when we were just starting out."

Kelvin Yu, bassist of Itchyworms and also a partner of Route 196, took the opportunity to thank everyone in his post. He thanked his co-partners as well as the "pioneer," Jonathan Paul P. Balboa for "passing on the torch to us and entrusting us with his baby of his," their staff, and all the artists, musicians, and gig goers who have supported the gig spot throughout the years.
