Is OPM dead? Chito Miranda doesn't think so
He says it's more vibrant than ever.
(SPOT.ph) The phrase "OPM is dead" is nothing new—plenty of people have expressed this sentiment over the years. Artists like Rico Blanco, Jay Contreras (of Kamikazee), and Noel Cabangon have previously put in their two cents on the issue.
Parokya Ni Edgar's Chito Miranda is the latest musician to refute the phrase. On his Instagram account, he partly wrote, "Punta kayo sa mga 12Monkeys, Saguijo, Route 196, B-Side, 70's Bistro, Conspiracy, 19East, etc...o kaya sa mga events tulad ng MyxMo or mga music festivals where they feature Pinoy acts, both old and new. Makikita niyo how solid it is."
He continued, "Ang problema kasi, 'yong mga nagsasabi ng 'OPM is dead' ay 'yong mga wala naman alam sa music scene."
He also replied to a Twitter comment that said mainstream music is "teaching the masses to be dumber."
