The trailer for Maria Ozawa's Nilalang will give you the creeps
We're pretty intrigued
(SPOT.ph) Among the eight Metro Manila Film Festival entries this year, Nilalang probably had the shakiest start. The film was met with controversy after its original star, Robin Padilla abruptly backed out of the project just days before scheduled shooting. This prompted Maria Ozawa to call him "unprofessional," which then led to people blaming her for Mariel Rodriguez's sudden miscarriage.
Although the film was rumored to be out of the MMFF race, the production team eventually cast Cesar Montano as its lead and filming went underway. While other entries have barely begun filming, Nilalang has already wrapped up and released a new trailer.
The supernatural action thriller revolves around a series of brutal murders in Japan that have somehow reached the Philippines. Montano plays a police investigator who teams up with a mysterious woman (Ozawa) from Tokyo's criminal underworld.
The film is directed by Pedring Lopez (Binhi), and also stars Meg Imperial, Yam Concepcion, and Dido de la Paz. According to reports, the film will have a "tame, sanitized" R-13 version for the MMFF while an unrated cut will be for international release.
If the plot and stylish production value are anything to go by, the movie looks pretty promising.
