This charming romance film will make you want to explore the Philippines
The Solenn Heussaff and Dennis Trillo-starrer was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
(SPOT.ph) Everyone loves a sweet, coming-of-age romance, but this new Pinoy film is taking it a step further with its environmental advocacy.
Lakbay2Love stars Solenn Heussaff as Lianne, a videographer whose next project focuses on climate change. She enlists the help of Jay-R (Dennis Trillo), a forester and biker who takes her around scenic biking spots in the country, from La Mesa Dam to Benguet. As they grow closer, Lianne must face the heartbreak she has been avoiding, in the form of her ex-boyfriend, Macky (Kit Thompson), who also happens to be Jay-R's good friend.
The film is directed by Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil, who is best known for her award-winning movie Boses from 2008. She explained why she decided to do a bike and environment-themed film, saying, "Six years ago, I taught my son how to bike. We went to La Mesa Dam, where I got awed at this forest within the city, and teared up when the guide told us that the Earth is dying, and how in 30 years, our children or grandchildren may no longer see wildlife." Its screenplay is penned by Palanca winner Layeta Bucoy.
L2L is supported by La Mesa Ecopark, Timberland Heights, non-profit bicycle group Firefly Brigade, and the Cordillera Conservation Trust. It was recently graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board, and is set to hit theaters on February 3.
