(SPOT.ph) Acclaimed Filipino director Lav Diaz is headed to this year's prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). His new film, Ang Babaeng Humayo (or The Woman Who Left) will be screened at TIFF's Wavelengths category.
The four-hour film stars Charo Santos in her comeback movie role as Horacia, who is released from prison after being wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for 30 years. It's reportedly inspired by Leo Tolstoy's short story, God Sees The Truth, But Waits, and also stars John Lloyd Cruz, Shamaine Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Michael de Mesa, and more.
TIFF runs from September 8 to 18. Prior to its inclusion in the lineup, Ang Babaeng Humayo also joined the Main Competition category of the Venice Film Festival. Here, it will compete against 19 other films from around the world, including Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, and Damien Chazelle's La La Land starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
A trailer for Ang Babaeng Humayo has yet to be released.
