WATCH: This new Pinoy indie movie is unlike any romance you've ever seen
It gets pretty racy, too.
(SPOT.ph) We often associate romance movies with love teams, bickering lead couples who eventually fall in love, and maybe even a cheesy love song. But what if it was an unconventional romance about a manananggal's inability to find love?
Aptly titled Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B, it tells the story of a lonely girl named Jewel (Ryza Cenon), who mostly lives a quiet, routine life—that is, until she turns into a winged monster when triggered by intense emotions. When a broken-hearted boy named Nico (Martin del Rosario) moves in next door, she is torn between falling in love and saving him from herself.
The dark and racy film is directed by Prime Cruz, who was also behind another indie fan-favorite from 2015: the Best Picture-winning Sleepless. The movie will be competing for the top prize in this year's QCinema International Film Festival, which runs from October 14 to 22.
