A thrilling manhunt and conspiracy? We're in!
(SPOT.ph) Another Pinoy indie film has earned international critical acclaim! Birdshot has nabbed the award for Best Film under the Asian Future category at the recently concluded Tokyo International Film Festival.
Birdshot is a mystery thriller revolving around Maya, a farmer's daughter who accidentally kills a Philippine Eagle in a forest reserve. As the local authorities begin a dangerous manhunt to track down the poacher of an endangered bird, their investigation leads them to an even more horrific discovery.
The film is directed by Mikhael Red, and stars Mary Joy Apostol, Arnold Reyes, and John Arcilla. Birdshot is produced by Tuko Film Productions and Buchi Boy Entertainment (the same team behind Heneral Luna). They are reportedly aiming for a March 2017 release in local cinemas.
Birdshot isn't the only film that was recognized at the festival. Jun Robles Lana's Die Beautiful won Audience's Choice and Best Actor for its lead, Paolo Ballesteros.
