WATCH: We're already excited for this promising Pinoy musical film
Film, theater, and music fans, you don't want to miss this!
(SPOT.ph) Whether you love musicals or you just happen to be a movie fan, Ang Larawan is already shaping up to be the film you need to see.
The promising musical is based on National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin's "A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino." The film adaptation is set in pre-war Intramuros, portraying two sisters (Rachel Alejandro and Joanna Ampil) as they cope with financial ruin. The trailer doesn't give away too much, but it also gives us a glimpse at a very dashing Paulo Avelino on the piano.
More than its plot, however, is the amazing talent behind the film. It features original music by Ryan Cayabyab and the Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as a script penned by National Artist for Theater and Literature Rolando Tinio. It's also directed by Award-winning Broadway production designer Loy Arcenas.
An exact release date has yet to be announced, but according to its Facebook page, mark your calendars for September 2017. It will reportedly be Cinemalaya 2017's opening film.
