(SPOT.ph) Samantha Lee made waves in 2016 for her indie film Baka Bukas, which stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith as a lesbian secretly in love with her best friend. The indie film eventually got a nationwide release after its run at the 2016 Cinema One Originals Festival. Now, Lee is back with another LGBT film, Billie and Emma. This time, it'll be premiering at the QCinema International Film Festival, which runs from October 21 to 30.Â
The teaser trailer—only less than a minute short—shows Emma (Gabby Padilla) eating a hotdog on a stick while playing "she loves me, she loves me not" every time she takes a bite. She, of course, is looking lovingly at Billie (Zar Donato) from a distance. Billie, in turn, is being fawned over by other girls.
According to the movie's synopsis on QCinema's official website, the movie is set in the '90s. Billie is a 17-year-old who moves to the province of San Isidro to live with her aunt, who is a religion teacher. She plans on getting through the last year of high school without any issues—until she meets Emma, the school's star student. They fall in love, but then they find out that Emma is pregnant—and together, they go on a journey that centers on growth, laughter, and music.
The film also stars Beauty Gonzales, Cielo Aquino, and Ryle Santiago.
Billie and Emma premieres on October 21.
