(SPOT.ph) In October of last year, lotto fever swept the Philippines—Filipinos from all walks of life lined up at outlets that sell Ultra Lotto Jackpot tickets in the hope of winning the grand prize. Hopeful players believed the lottery was a once-in-a-lifetime shot at an easy windfall: All they had to do, after all, was stand in line, pick their lucky numbers, and buy a ticket.
But what if winning money could be even more convenient? Such is the premise behind Quiz Mo ko, the flagship game show on content and livestream app, Kumu. To play Quiz Mo ko, users do not need line up anywhere, or even leave their house, if they so desire. All they need to do is download Kumu for Android or iOS and tune in at 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday when it airs.
To play Quiz Mo ko, players must answer 10 questions correctly, each set themed around a particular topic, including everything from Filipino history to Marvel superheroes. Players who get all the 10 answers correctly claim a share of the grand prize, which have been rising steadily since the show’s inception and is set to hit an all-time high at the beginning of next month.

On February 1, Kumu’s Vice President of Marketing and Quiz Mo ko host KC Montero will be giving away one million pesos to the lucky winner or winners of the Friday evening episode.
Montero is one of the most popular mainstays in live entertainment in not only the Philippines, but across Asia Pacific. He is one of the longest running VJs for MTV, the host of GOOD TIMES on Magic 89.9, and a regionally seen television personality and producer—his acting and hosting has been featured on Celebrity Car Wars, Survivor Philippines, GMA 7, and Fox Sports, and Discovery Channel’s Worst Vacation Ever, a show he created alongside his brother.
As someone who has built a career in live entertainment, Montero is proud to be at the forefront of its new digital frontier and the #Kumu1Million.
“While it’ll of course be fun to give a lucky winner or winners a one million peso prize—which is certainly a life-changing amount for most Filipinos—I’m most excited for what this signifies: Livestreaming has finally come of age in the Philippines. Brands, content creators, and fans alike are starting to realize the incredible creative and economic opportunity that this medium presents,” said Montero.
Players’ answers shall be verified by Kumu’s representatives during the Quiz Mo ko episode on February 1, 2019. Winners shall be notified after the end of the game on February 1, 2019 via a screen that depicts the list of winners. The list of winners shall also be published on a leaderboard within the app.
The Good in a Giveaway
Quiz Mo ko has another major parallel with the lotto fever of last year. Just as the proceeds from Ultra Lotto Jackpot go to a good cause—it’s run by Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, after all—so does QuizMoKo also contribute to the social good, as Kumu founder and CEO Roland Ros explained.

“While many young Filipino sign up for Kumu after hearing you can win cash prizes on Quiz Mo ko, they end up staying because of the authentic connections they make with their fellow users and favorite content creators. Quiz Mo ko, then, is a positive force because it introduces our youth to the platform that gives them a voice,” said Ros, adding that Gen Z and Millennial users are the two most popular demographics on the platform.
In addition to Quiz Mo ko and its other in-house shows, Kumu has a diverse content ecosystem, one that includes online Kumunities and user livestreamers, most of whom would otherwise not have an outlet to a receptive audience composed of thousands of their peers.
