This Tom Clancy Adaptation Is Netflix's Next Big Project

(SPOT.ph) Some stories are best told in one medium, but seeing it unfold through another presents an entirely new experience. Though the story is the same at the very core, the little touches present in a specific medium can lend depth to the overall narrative. Netflix doesn't do video games, but the popular streaming service has picked up another adaptation to add to its arsenal.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures is set to adapt Tom Clancy's online-only, role-playing video game, The Division, and Netflix is on board.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain are to star in the project, and David Leitch is at the helm to direct.

The Division transpires in a bleak near future where a pandemic spreads via paper money during the American shopping frenzy Black Friday, effectively killing most of the citizens of New York. By the time Christmas rolls in, what's left of the population is in absolute pandemonium. In an attempt to save what remains, a band of civilians, all trained specifically to handle this situation, are activated.

87North Productions, Nine Stories, Freckle Films, and Ubisoft Film and Television are also producing alongside Netflix.
