(SPOT.ph) You've been there before—you're in your living room and your fave song is blasting through your speakers, singing along to every word. That, or your earphones are plugged in while you're waiting for the next train, and while the other passengers don't know, you're in your own world. Alternatively, you could jam along to tracks you love the next time you're in a bookstore. The chances of you catching your favorite artist live in those locations seems almost impossible, but that might just happen real soon: Sofar Sounds is coming back to Manila this August 31.
It's been three years since the last Sofar gig, so if you're wondering what it's all about, here's a quick run-through. Sofar takes everyday, mundane locations—and even the unlikeliest places for gigs, and transforms them into conducive and alluring spaces for secret live shows to create an intimate and immersive experience that brings artists, the audience, and the community together through music.
Interested folks can sign up to be invited for gigs. They are then notified if they've been selected and will be informed of the location a day before the show. Here's the catch—you don't know who's performing until you arrive at the venue on the day itself. Each one is different in its own way, which is what makes each gig exciting.
Sofar has had gigs in Manila before and featured artists like Bullet Dumas, BP Valenzuela, She's Only Sixteen, and The Ransom Collective, to name a few.
