(SPOT.ph) The lives of royalty seem glamorous with shiny jewels, grand estates, and absolute power. You might have wanted to be royalty in your childhood for all the things you could buy with the riches (and rules you can pass to evade bedtime), but the life of a royal also comes with a lot of responsibilities and expectations. The new HBO Original Catherine the Great premieres October 22 on HBO Go and HBO and will give you a look into what it means to be royal.
The four-part limited series focuses on the rule and court of Russian empress Catherine the Great, played by Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren, and takes a dip into her affair with Grigory Potemkin, played by Jason Clarke. Directed by Philip Martin, Catherine the Great examines her reign over Russia, and how her affair proved vital in shaping modern-day Russia through reforms.
