The Lav Diaz opus won at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.

(SPOT.ph) Here's one way you can get into the proper mood for Independence Day: Lav Diaz' eight-hour epic Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis is streaming on TEN17P's YouTube channel starting June 12 up to 14! If you have never watched any of this auteur's works before then this is your chance.

The production house posted the announcement on their Twitter page along with a little snippet from the film. Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis is a fantastical historical drama clocking in at 485 minutes, or a little more than eight hours, and won the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2016.

It tackles in wondrous black and white the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spanish colonizers. The cast is composed of the familiar faces of stars such as John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Alessandra de Rossi, Sid Lucero, Cherie Gil, and more.

You can watch the film above or on TEN17P's YouTube channel. We suggest streaming it on your phone so you can still have bathroom breaks! Just be sure to have a battery pack handy if you want to go all out for the whole eight hours.
