Spotify's Got Lyrics Now. Here's How to Turn On the Feature
Ready to sing along to your phone?
(SPOT.ph) It's safe to say it's been a while since you hit the karaoke bar, and it looks like you won't be able to schedule a session with your friends just yet. Here's the closest thing you can get to singing your heart out: Music-streaming app Spotify has launched Lyrics on Spotify, so you can channel your pop-star side or birit-queen tendencies through the app.
This feature is a global partnership between Spotify and song lyrics catalog Musixmatch and is available to both Free and Premium users in the Philippines. To access the feature, just tap the "Lyrics" tab at the bottom of your "Now Playing" screen.
“'Lyrics' has been one of the most requested features by Spotify users and we’re excited to make song lyrics available to listeners in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. Listeners can now get to know their favorite tracks—and the lyrics behind them—even better. It’s another way Spotify is connecting fans and artists through the music they love,” says Boon Ken Wong, Spotify's Asia team lead for editorial in a statement.
We checked out Spotify for ourselves to see how the feature looks and we're happy to report that yes, the color of the text changes as the song plays on, and you'll see the lyrics in the language in which they are sung.
Now, excuse us as we dig up our mic from our purse and growl privately after work à la-Retsuko in Aggretsuko (and perusing some super-specific playlists while at it).
