(SPOT.ph) The UAAP is making a comeback this 2022—but we totally get it if you're not quite ready for crowds to come back, too. Still, there's a huge chance you've been thinking about the games for the past two years (mostly of the fact that it didn't happen) so being late to the news for this round is a definite no. Take note for when the games start on March 26: They'll be available on the GigaPlay app!
Where to watch the 2022 UAAP Games
When the 84th season opens up on March 26, it will have been nearly two years since the last games. Slated to return are men's basketball, women's volleyball, cheerdance, men's and women's 3x3 basketball, men's beach volleyball, poomsae, and men's and women's chess, according to SPIN.ph.
The first round of basketball is expected to be played in bubble set-ups—with a promise to open them up to fans should the situation become favorable. "At the very least for the first round, we'll maintain a strict bubble. We want to make sure that we're able to lower the number of variables to keep our athletes safe. We want to make sure that we put up a tournament without incident," UAAP president Nonong Calanog said.
To stay in the loop, fans can check out the app as Smart Communications Inc. will be keeping us up to date with all things UAAP. "While we can’t troop to the venues in full force just yet, we are glad to make watching the upcoming games easier than ever with the GigaPlay app," said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications chief in a statement. "We join the millions of UAAP fans who are eager to show their school pride as the league returns after a two-year, pandemic-enforced hiatus."
GigaPlay is Smart’s streaming app and is available on Android and iOS.
