(SPOT.ph) As our timelines were flooded over the past few weeks with increasingly vibrant and charmingly bizarre leaked set photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, respectively, in Greta Gerwig's upcoming, live-action Barbie movie, we couldn't help but be reminded of our starry-eyed and hopeful younger selves. You know, the past us who would engage in battles to the death with friends and family over which was the definitive "best" Barbie movie. Okay, the present us, too.

Between classics like 12 Dancing Princesses and Swan Lake, as well as outings like Fairytopia and 3 Musketeers, the 2000s offered a wide and varied selection of home-video Barbie adventures. It was an exciting time with a franchise that rivaled even the success of the contemporary Marvel Cinematic Universe, and guess what? We'll be able to rekindle that magic when four Barbie movie classics drop on Netflix on August 16.

Here are the Barbie movies dropping on Netflix in August:

Netflix has listed in the "Worth the Wait" tab of their New & Popular Page four Barbie movies slated to drop on August 16. Namely, Barbie as the Princess and the PauperBarbie and the Magic of PegasusBarbie as Rapunzel, and Barbie: The Nutcracker.

Released between 2001 and 2005, these films make up four of the first six animated films based on the Barbie character and are the titles frequently put up by fans in the conversation of "best Barbie movie." Barbie of Swan Lake and Barbie: Fairytopia are the two movies of the first six releases that aren't included in this month's Netflix drop. They're also held in high regard by the fans, so finger's crossed we see them soon as well.

Barbie NutcrackerRapunzel, and Princess and the Pauper are all adaptations of their respective popular works. Nutcracker tells the tale of Barbie who gets shrunken down and caught in a conflict between her nutcracker doll and an evil Mouse King, as based on the classic ballet. We know you can already hear the Tchaikovsky. Rapunzel adapts the classic Rapunzel fairy tale but with a cute dragon named Penelope. Princess and the Pauper follows a country's princess and a commoner, who look almost identical to each other, as they foil an evil plot formed by a greedy government official.

The outlier of the Barbie bunch is Magic of Pegasus, which is a wholly original story. In it, a pegasus named Brietta helps Barbie (here, Princess Annika) defeat an evil wizard who cast a spell turning her entire family to stone. Ah yes, the very classic Barbie elements of evil wizards and magical artifacts. It's been a while and we can't wait to revisit them.
