Liz Uy files libel complaint against gossip blog Fashion Pulis
It's over the issue of Maine Mendoza's "recycled" gown
(SPOT.ph) FashionPulis.com may be in trouble. On Monday (November 9), stylist Liz Uy filed six cases of libel against the popular gossip blog run by Michael Sy Lim, which stemmed from the latter's posts on the issue of Maine Mendoza's gown.
To quickly refresh your memory, Liz was accused of "sabotaging" #AlDub with the "recycled" dress worn by Maine during Eat Bulaga's Tamang Panahon concert last October 24. The dress, which was designed by Francis Libiran, caused an uproar after Fashion Pulis (and fans) noticed that Kim Chiu previously wore the gown as a model for his runway show. Both Libiran and makeup artist Juan Sarte came to the stylist's defense.
It didn't end there. Fashion Pulis later came out with another blog post entitled, "Insta Scoop: Liz Uy makes Maine Mendoza wear same jacket she wore weeks ago in Preview photoshoot." However, the cover shoot (above) credited Vince Uy as the stylist, and the red-and-black Gucci jacket was previously worn by Liz on a separate occasion. Liz and her legal counsel, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, filed the libel complaints in Makati City.
Meanwhile, Fashion Pulis released a statement on the issue which partly read: "[Liz Uy's] feelings of being wronged by my post was based on a common [and] truthful observation about her body of work relative to Maine Mendoza of AlDub, which many people other than me also pointed out." Michael also said that he plans to countersue for "malicious prosecution and damages for this suppression of freedom of the press and expression."
