(SPOT.ph) Angel Locsin's fans still aren't giving up hope that their favorite actress will reprise her famous role as Darna...and neither is she.
In a recent interview with the press, Locsin said she is still open to playing the role that catapulted her to fame. "I think you all know how much this project means to me. After that interview [with Boy Abunda in October 2015], I tried to forget about it. I was really depressed that time," she said.
She continued, "If the project is given to me, I really need to fully heal. I need to fix myself so I can do this right." The actress underwent surgery for her spinal injury in Singapore in December 2015, and is currently in physical therapy. "I'll be undergoing another assessment this September to see if I can be allowed to do things that I couldn’t do right now," she said.
The upcoming Darna film will be directed by Erik Matti and produced by Star Cinema. In a previous interview with SPOT.ph, Matti said they have already found an actress for the role but it still isn't "final."
When asked about his vision for the new Darna, Matti said she has to be a "21st-Century modern Filipino woman" who is "tough" with a "fierceness and charm to her."
