(SPOT.ph) July was a sad time for avid local radio listeners after Monster Radio mainstay Delamar Arias announced that she was leaving The Morning Rush after 20 years.
Up until recently, the former DJ had yet to divulge why she bid the show farewell. In an interview with Inquirer.net, Delamar finally explained her decision to move on—her age, mostly. "When I was young and not married, I represented the market—I partied all night, drank, hung out with friends," she explained. "But imagine a wife and mom talking to that market now. So I decided it was time to take myself somewhere else."
She also said that her new role as a mom and wife meant different priorities and experiences, saying, "I’ve always talked about what I know. The show is so talk-heavy, you have to speak from your own experience. I have concerns about children, and being a wife. But I knew not to push it."
In the same interview, Delamar shared how she got her start in the radio, initially working as a temporary newscaster—her "longest summer job ever." As for her plans for the future, she admitted she wanted to try having her own talk show.
