(SPOT.ph) It's no secret that Lea Salonga's singing skills are still as top-notch as they were when she was the singing voice of Mulan back in 1998. (Mulan's normal speaking voice was done by Ming-Na Wen.) Salonga is also known, of course, as the voice of Aladdin's Jasmine. But there's nothing like hearing her sing "Reflection" just as she did two decades (!) ago for the classic film. That's exactly what The Greatest Showman star Keala Settle gushed about in her video of Salonga that she posted on July 30. If you didn't know, Settle played the Bearded Lady in the hit movie musical.
Settle was with Salonga at Tramp Stamp Granny's, a bar in Los Angeles, when Salonga sang a few lines of the unforgettable song. On Twitter, Settle heaped praise on Salonga—in all caps, no less—and called Salonga "an international treasure." She continues, "I could listen to her sing FOREVER." Posting the same video on Instagram, Settle says, "She will always be incredible."
Kettle followed up the video post on Instagram with a photo of Salonga, continuing her praise for the singer and actress. "I can’t stress enough how much I love her. Her voice is clear as crystal." She adds, "She is salt of the earth. I am obsessed with her." Mentioning Salonga, she says, "You are my idol."
A week and a half of full out rehearsals at @HollywoodUMC. Three nights of performances at @HollywoodBowl. Drunken piano bar singing at @TrampStampGrans. Seeing friends and family. Trip to LA, full and fun!— Lea Salonga (@MsLeaSalonga) July 30, 2018
If Salonga's singing wasn't impressive enough as it is, she reveals in a tweet that she actually had a few drinks when she gave the impromptu performance. Given Settle's admiration for Salonga and their incredible talent, let's just hope we'll soon see a project with them together.
