Malacañang: Cong. Martin Romualdez paid for the $20,000 dinner, not us
In response to the New York Post report about President Arroyo and her entourage running up a dinner tab of $20,000 in New York's French restaurant Le Cirque, Malacañang Press Secretary Remonde texted Malaya and Abante columnist Ellen Tordesillas, "Yes, I was there. It was on the invitation of Cong. Martin Romualdez. Malacañang did not pay for it." Tordesillas continues in her blog, "I called him up to ask more questions especially if Arroyo and the whole entourage thought of the hungry and the homeless in the Philippines but he was not answering." The Inquirer said today that it tried to reach Cong. Romualdez for comment too, but to no avail.
