LATEST UPDATE: Official Statement of Embassy on Stabbing Incident

(8:21 a.m., August 24)

SPOT.ph just received the Official Statement of Embassy Cuisine from co-owner and PR Tim Yap denying earlier reports that their bouncers connived to facilitate the escape of the suspect Kilikan Jimenez through their back door:

"An untoward incident involving certain patrons of EMBASSY CUISINE which occurred last 18 August 2009 is currently being investigated by officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Taguig City.

Contrary to certain allegations which have been published and reported in media, the management of, and security personnel engaged by, Cuisine did not allow, assist in, facilitate nor condone the immediate departure from the premises of any of the parties involved in the incident. In the said incident, the management and security personnel of Cuisine faithfully observed and implemented the proper security procedure, immediately sought the assistance of the PNP officers assigned to the area, and promptly endorsed the matter and parties involved to the PNP officers for the taking of appropriate legal action. The management of Cuisine did not and will not tolerate the evasion by any party of legal liability, and is presently extending its full cooperation to the PNP-Taguig City in the latter's investigation of the incident.

The management of Cuisine wishes to assure its patrons that it remains committed to providing them an entertainment venue where their safety and enjoyment are of the utmost importance."

Embassy Cuisine and Superclub closed down by Taguig local government indefinitely
(Updated 8:58 p.m., first posted at 1:24 a.m on August 21):
Both Embassy Cuisine and Embassy Superclub were closed indefinitely by the local government of Taguig City due to a stabbing incident that occurred last Tuesday, reports the Inquirer.net.

The Inquirer reports that a patron named Kilikan Jimenez allegedly stabbed 34-year-old businessman Dennis Navarro II with a bladed weapon at Embassy Cuisine past 1 a.m. on August 18. The victim, said to have mediated during a fight between his friend and Jimenez, was wounded on his right side and back and was rushed by Embassy security personnel to Makati Medical Center where he underwent an operation.

According to Manila Bulletin Online, "The alleged connivance between the bouncers and the suspect reportedly facilitated the escape of the assailant. Gilbey Gallart Loganera, investigating security officer of the Bonifacio Estate Services Corp., said accounts given by security men detailed in the area pointed to Embassy bouncers Gilbert Rempis, Joven Bantique, and Gilbert Battung as the ones who facilitated the escape of Jimenez through the club's back door."

(August 21, 1:24 a.m.) EMBASSY CUISINE CLOSED DOWN BY POLICE?

SPOT.ph has received reports that Taguig policemen shut down Embassy Cuisine at 9:30 p.m. Thursday allegedly due to a fight and stabbing incident between patrons that occurred there Monday evening during their weekly "Happy Mondays" event. The closure was confirmed by a call to the Taguig police department, who said it was not police who closed the establishment down but the Office of the City Administrator. A call to the Taguig City Hall Emergency Hotline yielded no confirmation.

We also have a yet-to-be-verified report that the closure was ordered by Mayor Freddie Tiñga, although we learned that he is currently out of the country with his family. Co-owner Tim Yap is also out of the country. It is unknown if the order applies to just Embassy Cuisine or also Embassy Super Club, which is closed on Thursdays.
