Carlo J.Caparas film on "EDSA, The Untold Story" underway
Controversial National Artist awardee Carlo J.Caparas revealed to GMANews.TV that he has been in talks with Spirit of EDSA Foundation founders Chris Carrion and Boy Saycon to direct a film about EDSA 1 and EDSA2.
Caparas' raison d'etre for the film: "EDSA 1 and EDSA 2. Ang ibig kong sabihin, abuse natin of democracy.
Last Wednesday, previous National Artist awardees Napoleon Abueva, Benedicto Cabrera, Bienvenido Lumbera, Virgilio Almario and Arturo Luz filed a petition with the Supreme Court to block the conferment of National Artists awards to Caparas, NCCA director Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, fashion designer Pitoy Moreno, and architect Bobby Mañosa.
Saycon justified his choice of director by saying, "Si Carlo ang kinausap namin diyan dahil madali niyang ma-interpret ang gusto namin na mas makataong interpretasyon. We have to reach out to the majority, not only to the elite...In good faith, we believed in Carlo's capability to produce the [movie] for us long before [the National Artist] controversy. It does not change our position," he told GMANews.TV.
