First Gentleman Arroyo's ancestor eyed for sainthood
President Arroyo is set to attend a Mass to mark the formal opening of the cause of canonization of Mother Rosario Arroyo de la Visitacion in Iloilo on October 8, reports Inquirer.net. In a press release sent out October 6, the Palace said that Mother Rosario was the "great, great grandmother" of First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo.
Mother Rosario Arroyo de la Visitacion was the founder of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines. According to Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, Mother Rosario was "an example of the observance of the vows, the Holy Rule and community life.
Her life clearly mirrored the virtues of purity and innocence, deep simplicity and profound humility, ardent love for the poor, the sick and the needy."
As part of the process, Lagdameo called upon "any and all, who may have useful information regarding the Cause of Canonization of the Servant of God to bring such documents, materials or information to my attention."
