Noy-Bi proclamation star-studded; Dingdong Dantes mobbed, Shalani opts to watch from the sidelines

Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Jejomar Binay were proclaimed the country's President and Vice-President respectively, on June 9 at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, reports GMANews.TV. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and House Speaker Prospero Nograles made the proclamation at 3:45 in the afternoon.

In the final tally after three weeks of canvassing, Aquino received 15,208,678 votes, 5.7 million more votes over former President Joseph Estrada, according to a report by GMANews.TV.

The proclamation also drew celebrities who supported president-elect Noynoy Aquino during his campaign. Actor Dingdong Dantes, who endorsed Aquino, was mobbed by the crowd as he entered the House of Representatives. Asked if he has accepted the reported Cabinet post being offered to him, Dantes told GMA 7's Saksi, "Wala pang pormal na pag-uusap pero siyempre nandito ako para suportahan siya."

Singer-composer Ogie Alcasid also attended the proclamation. Alcasid told Saksi that they are already preparing a song composed by Noel Cabangon, Ryan Cayabyab and himself, for Aquino's inauguration.

Other celebrities who were present include film producer Mother Lily, with daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo, musician and artist Jim Paredes, TV host and talent manager Boy Abunda and actor Cesar Montano.

Aquino's girlfriend, Councilor Shalani Soledad quietly watched the proclamation from the VIP section of the gallery with her family."Masaya na kinakabahan ka, what would happen in the next six years," Soledad told GMA-7's Saksi on how she felt about Aquino's proclamation. She told Saksi that it was her decision to watch from the gallery. "The mere fact na nandito ako, doesn't matter kung nasaan ako."
