Former siomai vendor Jovit Baldivino wins Pilipinas Got Talent grand prize
Former siomai vendor Jovit Baldivino was declared Pilipinas Got Talent's first winner on June 13 at the Araneta Coliseum, reports PEP.ph. Garnering almost half of the total SMS votes (48.81 percent), the high school senior won P2 million which will go to his family's housing and his siblings' education, he told TV Patrol.
The 16-year-old Batangueño sang Queen's "Too Much Love Will Kill You" on the June 12 finals night, drawing resounding cheers from the audience like when he sang Journey's "Faithfully" during his March audition. And just like in his audition, the judges had nothing but good things to say. Ai Ai de las Alas called him an "endangered specie" and a formidable opponent, while Freddie Garcia said he is "unbelievably very good." Kris Aquino described him as "the next big superstar of ABS-CBN" and even said her manager, Deo Edrinal who was in the audience, looked like he hit jackpot with Baldivino's talent and audience rapport.
Aquino said Baldivino could choose to be part of any ABS-CBN show, according to ABS-CBNNews.com. Baldivino said he'd like to be part of everything.
