Have Vic Sotto and Pia Guanio broken up?
Have Eat Bulaga hosts, comedian Vic Sotto, 56, and TV host Pia Guanio, 35, broken up? An alleged eyewitness claims to have noticed the couple showing signs of "some friction [based on their] body language," reports Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star. Another supposed eyewitness told The Star, "When they greet each other, padampi na lang sa cheeks, unlike before na light (lang naman) lips to lips." The couple is "not as warm [and] as loving" like before, said bystanders on the set of Eat Bulaga, which Sotto and Guanio host. In response to this rumor, Guanio texted Lo, "We’re good."
Lo also reported that Guanio was overheard asking a guest at Ruffa Gutierrez’ birthday party on June 30 to post on Facebook that Guanio is single again. Lo also revealed a clue from an "insider": When the cast of Eat Bulaga travels abroad this September for a series of shows, Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon and wife Eileen Macapagal, Vic Sotto’s brother Sen. Tito Sotto and wife Helen Gamboa are planning to go on private outings together. If Vic Sotto and Guanio do not join them, there is truly a "gap" between them, according to the alleged insider.
According to Dolly Anne Carvajal of The Philippine Daily Inquirer, Sotto told her in a recent interview that his relationship with Guanio is not "trip lang." Someone close to the couple allegedly told Carvajal in a mix of Filipino and English, "When Pia and Bossing [Vic Sotto] became a couple, Bossing was not as generous as he used to be. Pia was able to control Vic’s habit of giving money to anyone who would come to him for help."
It’s not the first time the couple has had to deal with breakup rumors. For instance, in June 2009, the two denied their supposed breakup, according to a Showbiz Central report. Guanio admitted then that they had "rough patches" but were "very much in love." Sotto confirmed this, saying their relationship was "going smooth and getting stronger." He also said they had long been talking about wedding plans.
