Binay convoy captured on TV violating traffic rules
GMA’s Saksi TV crew captured the vehicle convoy of Vice President Jejomar Binay violating two traffic rules yesterday, July 5-their cars ran a red light and turned left at a "No Left Turn" street.
When interviewed at his destination, Binay said, "Wala namang wang wang." He cited numerous appointments as his rationale for doing so, and said that even if he tried to leave earlier, he would encounter heavy traffic anyway. "Kahit agahan ko pa, talagang meron akong haharaping magiging problema sa trapik," he said.
Meanwhile, The Philippine Star reports today that President Noynoy Aquino, a former night owl, has taken to waking up early in order to allot ample travel time to anticipate any heavy traffic from his Times Street home in Quezon City to Malacanang Palace in Manila. In accordance with his "No Wang Wang" policy, he has ordered his security escorts to not use any sirens and to stop at red lights.
"Yesterday, the President showed up early for the 8 a.m. flag raising ceremony. And at the 63rd anniversary celebration of the Philippine Air Force at the Villamor Airbase, Pasay City, he arrived about 15 minutes ahead of schedule," said The Star.
