Derek Ramsay to Angelica Panganiban: "If marriage is what you want, that’s what I will give."

Actor-model Derek Ramsay said in a taped interview aired before The Buzz interviewed his girlfriend Angelica Panganiban on July 18, as reported by PEP.ph, " I’ve always said from day one, if [marriage is] what you [Angelica] want, that’s what I will give. I think it’s definitely just around the corner but what we are right now, I’m very very much happy, very much in love... One day, maybe all our efforts will pay off and we’ll have a couple of little Ramsays running around."

Asked if they had talked about marriage, the Rubi star said, "Usually ’yong usapan na gano’n, hindi siya seryoso na, ’Kailan? Ano ang mangyayari? Ano ang dream wedding mo?’ Walang ganoon. Palagi lang siyang, ’Ano kaya ang hitsura ng magiging anak natin?’ Ganoon lang, natatawa lang kami. Hindi siya ’yong seryosong, ’Eto, magpapakasal na tayo."

Ramsay also said in the taped interview, "This is the most serious relationship I’ve ever had. I don’t want to compare one relationship to the next, but if I was asked to, walang comparison." He was previously linked to model Solenn Heussaff.

The Buzz co-host Charlene Gonzales later brought out a letter from Ramsay, who says he is not fond of writing letters and asked Panganiban to read the letter aloud, "I was asked what is the best and most important gift I have received from you. You showered me with all these material gifts but not one of them came to mind. Don’t get me wrong, I love the gifts you gave me, so don’t stop." To this, the teary-eyed Panganiban playfully said, "Sira-ulo ka!"

Panganiban’s voice broke as she continued reading the letter, "Each trip is different, each trip gets better. And each trip gets one step closer to my promise on showing you the world. These are the gifts that matter to me and make me happy. Thanks for the four great years. If I’m to keep my promise we’re going to have, you give me at least another 10 years to fulfill it. The world is a big place at mahal ang ticket, ’no. Take care Empressia. I love you."

The letter came with magnets from different countries the two had visited together that Ramsay had collected for her. She said, "Nakakatuwa kasi talagang kilalang-kilala niya na ako."

Panganiban added that Ramsay changed a lot compared to when they were just starting out as a couple. "Sobra siyang open... Ang lambing-lambing niya these past few months. Sobrang supportive lang niya... Nararamdaman ko na proud na proud siya sa akin na girlfriend niya ako." Asked what could have brought about this change in him, Panganiban said, "May mga pinagdaanan ako na medyo hindi madali. Then, ayun, siguro naisip niya na, ’Kawawa naman ang taong ’to. Mamahalin ko na nga ng bonggang-bongga!’" Before leaving for their South Africa trip, Panganiban was hounded with rumors of a word war against Ramsay’s Magkaribal leading lady, Gretchen Barretto, over Ramsay.

Panganiban recounted how Ramsay did not leave her side when she got sick during their South Africa trip even if Ramsay wanted to watch the then ongoing World Cup games. She said his vigilant watch over her was different from instances when she got sick in Manila. "Kasi dito, kapag isa sa amin nagkakasakit, hindi mo naman nababantayan kasi may trabaho ang isa sa atin. Pero do’n, tutok si Kuya. ’Babantayan kita, nandito lang ako.’ So, umiiyak talaga ako noong time na ’yon at nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya. Wala naman kasi do’n ang nanay ko at wala naman akong ibang puwedeng takbuhan kung hindi siya. At nandoon siya para sa akin."

Panganiban said, "Actually, walang sweetness na nangyayari. Parang trinato niya ako na best friend niya ako sa trip na ito. Walang iwanan. Barkada tayo rito. So, nakita ko siya, hindi lang boyfriend. Nakita ko siya bilang pinakamatalik na kaibigan."
