President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III led the unveiling of the 250-by-200-foot photo mosaic of his mother, former Pres. Cory Aquino, on July 31 in an early commemoration of Cory’s first death anniversary on August 1, reports GMANews.tv. Aquino said, "This mosaic of photographs is a symbol of the [resurgence of hope that arose following her death]. The real challenge, however, is making Cory Aquino’s example and legacy part of our daily lives."
Creator photojournalist Revoli Cortez told GMANews.tv that the photo mosaic is also an attempt to be part of the Guinness World Records. The biggest photo mosaic of Cory in the Guinness World Records is 93 by 68 feet big.
Aquino also led the mass on August 1 at La Salle Greenhills, according to GMANews.tv. Admitting he would not have run for President if not for her death and the overwhelming clamor for him to run that followed, Aquino said as reported by Inquirer.net, "It is still quite difficult to grasp how one person’s death could have such a huge impact on our nation in such a short time... However, Cory Aquino was one extraordinary woman who in so many milestones in her life had already made the impossible possible."
