CHECK IT OUT: A World of Pasta and Noodles at the Oakroom, October 4 to 29
Carbo-load on the Oakroom’s twists on classic pasta and noodle favorites from around the world.
This October, sample pasta and noodle dishes representing the food capitals of the world at the Oakroom in Ortigas. Says General Manager Brian Connelly, "The unique recipes are based on Eastern and Western inspirations."
A bowl of Hollywood (P3,750), which represents the "City of Angels," is the most expensive dish on the menu, with gratinated bowtie pasta, lobster chunks in Cognac cream served in a half lobster shell topped with Oscietra caviar. More frugal foodies should order the Marco Polo (P575), a sampler of 4 dishes with larger than usual servings. The set includes a serving of Tokyo, with Udon noodles, gyoza, tofu, leek and Shiitake mushrooms in dashi broth; Athens, with linguini pasta, kalamata olives, white beans, fried calamari rings and Haloumi cheese served on the side; Singapore, rice vermicelli with pork, squid and curry; and Palermo, a bowl of penne pasta, Italian sausage, Parma ham, tomato, basil and cream topped with Parmesan cheese.
For dessert, order the Basel (P325), a plate of dark chocolate and vanilla tortellini, swimming in Amaretto cream and roasted almond flakes, oozing with cream and chocolate flavors but not overly sweet.
Wines from the Deakin Estate in North West Victoria, Australia are also available.
The a la carte dishes are available from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Oakroom. Call 716-1160 for inquiries and reservations.
