Twitter updates from PAG-ASA and DepEd now available.

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) now have Twitter accounts, reports GMANews.tv. @DepEd_PH was created today at around 9:30 a.m. "upon the suggestion of journalist Howie Severino" so that the agency may send "critical and urgent (education-related) announcements to many stakeholders in the shortest possible time," DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro said. As of October 18, 3 p.m., more than half of its tweets are about the suspension of classes due to typhoon Juan. So far, the account has over 1,800 followers.
Created on October 15, the PAG-ASA account, @dost_pagasa, contains typhoon updates and responses to questions from netizens. It has over 17,000 followers as of October 18, 3 p.m.
GMANews.tv cited other government agencies with official Twitter accounts: the Office of the President (@govph) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (@mmda).
