Shalani Soledad debuts as new Willing-Willie co-host tonight
Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad will be Willie Revillame’s co-host in the TV-5 game show Willing-Willie starting tonight at 6:30 p.m, reports PEP.ph. The former "Presidential Sweetheart" almost turned down TV-5’s offer, Soledad’s mother Evelyn told Inquirer.net. Their family met Revillame in his Ayala Heights home on November 5 "just to say no." However, Soledad said the former Wowowee host "won (them) over with his sincerity."
It was also Revillame’s public service initiative that made Soledad say yes, according to Inquirer.net. Without being asked, Revillame "promised weekly on-location forays" where Soledad will bring gifts to the less fortunate. "He presented the offer in such a way that I’m not, until now, seeing this as showbiz. To me, it’s just another opportunity to reach out and help, just another medium."
Unlike most game show hosts, Soledad will not be expected to sing or dance. "When you think ’game show host,’ you see a bubbly person. That’s just not me. I have two left feet, and everyone else can sing better than me. I was also told I didn’t have to change my look, and I could wear my usual clothes," she told Inquirer.net.
Revillame, who described casting Soledad as "a dream come true," told Inquirer.net, "The people will love her. She doesn’t even have to make them laugh. They will only want to look at her. I wanted to work with her the first time I saw her."
When asked if she signed a "big contract," Soledad said, "Well, it was a big decision for me."
This is not Soledad’s first foray into the small screen; PEP.ph reports that she was a field reporter for UNTV and she used to co-host an UNTV morning show.
