Miriam Defensor-Santiago falls down onstage in Turkey convention, uploads video on Youtube and Tweets, "Don’t lose confidence if you slip&q

The office of Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago recently uploaded on Youtube the footage of the Senator falling onstage in Turkey last month. It was uploaded "due to public demand by her Facebook fans," Santiago’s Youtube channel, DefensorSantiago2010, said. Philippine Ambassador to Turkey, Pedro Chan, took the video, reports ABS-CBNNews.com.

According to ABS-CBNNews.com, Santiago picked herself up right after and received a standing ovation at the annual forum of the Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), a non-government organization. She then proceeded to deliver her speech, urging countries represented in the PGA "to become parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," according to her official website.

Santiago Tweeted last week, "Don’t lose your confidence if you slip. Be grateful for a pleasant trip. And pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again..." Doctors, who examined her after her speech, declared her stable, according to ABS-CBNNews.com. The Senator suffers from hypothyroidism, the symptoms of which include fatigue. "Doctors told me I’ll be fine. I’m alright, though a little weak," Santiago Tweeted after her fall.
