PH football team defeats Vietnam; shocks league fans

The Philippine football team defeated defending champion Vietnam, 2-0, on December 5 in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 Group B Match in Hanoi, Vietnam, reports GMANews.tv.

According to the report, "television commentators called it the biggest shock in the tournament’s history." Key players British-Filipinos Neil Etheridge and Chris Greatwich, and English-Filipino Phil Younghusband led the team to victory. Goalkeeper Etheridge successfully blocked scoring attempts by Vietnam, while Greatwich and  Younghusband scored in the 38th and 79th minutes, respectively.

GMANews.tv reports that the Philippines ranks 151 in the FIFA world rankings while Vietnam is listed 13 notches higher. The AFK Suzuki cup is organized by the ASEAN Football Federation and includes teams from Southeast Asia.
