"Hey, Baby!" viral video by Pinoy comic book writer-artist makes it to British TV
"Hey, Baby!" Youtube video
The "Hey, Baby!" viral video by Gerry Alanguilan, a Filipino comic book writer and artist, has been featured recently on British shows The Graham Norton Show and Russell Howard's Good News. ABS-CBNNews.com reports that celebrities on the shows tried to copy Alanguilan’s naughty-bordering-on-creepy smile, as seen in his hit Youtube video uploaded last year. British boxing champ David Haye imitated Alanguilan’s smile on The Graham Norton Show and Russell Howard did the same on his self-titled show.
What inspired the smile?
According to ABS-CBNNews.com, the smile that launched a bunch of merchandise was inspired by Psych’s Dule Hill. Alanguilan said, "(His smile) is probably the craziest, most hysterical smile I’ve seen, and it never fails to make me laugh. So I tried to see if I could do it on my own. The thing is, I was unsuccessful in copying Dule’s smile, but I seem to have come up with something of my own that’s a bit different."
Alanguilan’s works include Wasted, Timawa, Lastik-Man, Crest Hut Butt Shop, Johnny Balbona, Humanis Rex!, Where Bold Stars Go To Die and ELMER. The "architect by profession" has also worked on titles like Wolverine, X-men, X-Force, Superman, Batman, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Wetworks, Grifter, High Roads, Silent Dragon, Ultimate Avengers: Crime and Punishment and Superior. He put up the Philippine Comics Art Museum Online.
